Luke “Biggsy” or “Razor”: Razor’s cute smile and warm personality make him a delight to be around. With over 10 years in the sport, over 4000 jumps, 80 plus base jumps, Razor has been known to occasionally land on things he shouldn’t. After a few confidence beers, he’s unstoppable, on the dance floor and elsewhere. A man of contradictions, he’s into BMX bandit postie bike-riding, and chooses to fill his down time with Simpsons’ cartoons on the box. Tim “Timmy” or “Chase”: This suave gentleman has over 7500 skydives and is yet another base jumper in the crew. He has a wicked sense of humour that often leaves the office wenches gasping for breath. This also happens when he dons his leopard print G-stings and struts around the office! Grrr! Tim is learning how to surf and has an ongoing Go-Kart rivalry with Razor. At the time of publishing Tim was reining champ…..we think cutting off his Hoff-locks has made him more streamlined! Paul “Poo”: Born into the sport, Poo is into all things aviation; skydiving (over 13,000 jumps!), hang-gliding, flying his own planes (more than 4000 hours) and motorised paragliders, in fact he will fly pretty much anything you put in front of him. He has been Australian champion a very impressive 16 times, and represented the country 6 times. In his spare time (which there is very little of) Poo likes surfing, driving his moke, partying, and generally misbehaving. He can often be seen flying around the NSW countryside with his Skydive Oz Outback Tour crew, taking the skydiving experience to remote communities; a modern day barnstormer!
Kip “Super Kip”: Hailing from Port Macquarie, Kip is a graduate of the New Zealand Skydiving Schools’ Diploma of Skydiving. This superstar has blitzed 2600 skydives in under 3 years, a huge effort. Kip earned his stripes with us as our packer and occasional slave boy, before heading back over to NZ to practice his tandem skills on the unsuspecting Kiwis. Back from his exile with stacks of valuable experience, Kip (our youngest instructor) is running amok once again in the ‘gong. Lock up your daughters. Adam “Longy”: Adam has a mighty smile that can be seen shining across the drop zone on even the most foul weather days. This party boy knows not only how to have a smashing time, but he is a specialist at sharing it with those around him. With over well above 8000 skydives, this stud muffin is no mere bystander. Longy has worn the green and gold to three world meets, and off to his fourth and for those of you unfamiliar with skydiving achievements, this is a massive feat. A specialist free flyer and swoop competitor, he is a top class skydiver who is always happy to share his wealth of knowledge with upcoming jumpers at training camps and ‘boogies’. Greg “Arnie”: The original terminator, Arnie is our very own bionic man…..well he did have a hip replacement in November 2006, and was jumping again within 3 months! With over 10,000 skydives, Greg is holds an Instructor A rating (the highest instructional rating possible). He started jumping as a naive 22 year old while in San Diego on a navy trip. Greg has achievements aplenty under his belt, including being a gold medal winning world champion, and Australian champion 5 times over, his most recent is a 25 way canopy formation Australian record early in 2007. This father of one has a dream holiday destination…..Santorini.
Alan “Mossy”, aka “The Wolf”: Mossy is the General Manager and Chief Instructor at Skydive the Beach. With 10,000 jumps, 29 hours flying time, 3 1/2 years running Skydive Express in W.A, 2 world records, representing Australia 7 times in international competitions, and a 16 year skydive career, we think he is up to the task. Alan is a budding actor and base guitarist, he is an Aries, Melbourne born, and up for anything. Mossy dances like a machine; the cage is his preferred environment.
Anthony “Bowie”: We love this man, he makes us all feel good about ourselves. Both a skydiver and base jumper, this guy’s an expert at controlled crash landings. With an alter ego that matches that of Borat, Bowie is not trusted around customers so we keep him out the back. He is let out on special occasions such as birthdays and Christmas parties. Bowie has been known to scuba dive, base-jump and hang-glide, crash cars and drink irresponsible amounts of tequila. He has two degrees and still cannot spell, occasionally snots himself when laughing and is a movie addict. Looking after the boss is a full time job for most of the staff at Skydive the Beach. Nick: Widely recognised as the backbone of the operation, Nick has been with Skydive the Beach for 5 years. He has the most stressful and dangerous job in the company yet manages to help everyone and retain a friendly smile! You will usually meet him on the way to the airport, Nick is responsible for making sure the bus and its passengers get to the airport safely, and that the landings are all on target back at the drop zone. He has recently committed himself to completing a PhD. Somewhat the family man, Nick has found the love of his life and is the proud father of 2 kids, however he is not shy of throwing himself out of the plane when the occasion arises and has survived 6 skydives.
Tanya: CONGRATULATIONS to the amazing Tanya who has just completed her Accelerated Freefall (AFF) Course which means she is now officially a skydiver! WOO HOO! Funky, fun and a dead set spunk, Tanya is also known as our tireless Office Manager. She can be trusted to balance the till, drive like a race car enthusiast, and leave a trail of crumbs and debris behind her... she didn’t earn the childhood nickname of Grub for nothing. Her likes are cheese, cheese and cheese. Tan spends her days dreaming of far away places and tall crushingly-handsome men. This trend setter can be seen cutting a mean rug on the dance floor and blames her love of tequila for being totally unable to grow up. Debb: Bookings Manager extraordinaire Debb is our guru behind the scenes. She is generally the first person you will come across at Skydive the Beach when you make a booking. With us since early 2006 Debbs can never leave, we would fall apart without her! A few skeletons in the closet reveal she was a former junior champion ten-pin bowler and has several tattoos. Her favourite drinks are champagne and QFs, and she is a firm believer in chicks' nights out! Debb has her hands full with 2 dogs and a drop zone full of skydivers to organise. Troy: This 2nd generation skydiver and parachute packer has clocked up over 200 jumps and a whopping 6000+ parachute packs! (He stopped counting after 6000 ‘cos it hurts his brain). Originally from the Gold Coast, 22 year old “T-Roy” Troy has dreadlocks decorated with beer bottle tops and buttons, must be something in the water up north…His relationship status is unconfirmed, this nomad goes wherever the wind blows him, as long as there is a fast turbine, 6kts winds and a soft landing area! An outdoor doof in the middle of a cyclone on a tropical island is his idea of the perfect weekend.
Ashley: Ashley not only flies Skydive the Beach’s aircraft, he also owns his own plane and a flying school as well! With 1700+ hours over 13 years, Ashley classifies himself as a “professional air bum”, although we’re not sure if that is what he uses when asked for his occupation. Originally from Singapore and currently residing in Sydney, Ash gets almost as many hours driving to work as he does flying the plane! He reckons he has never crashed an aircraft yet…however it depends on your definition of crash.
Ariel: Ariel is going to be an instructor! He is a graduate of the New Zealand Skydiving Schools’ Diploma of Skydiving, and started with us as a work experience student. Ariel has done over 500 skydives in his first 17 months of jumping (that’s really good), and will do pretty much anything we ask. His main job at present is parachute packing. He can’t drive properly, so we try to limit his time at the wheel. Ariel is originally from Israel via Paris, where he studied the art of Amour. When he is not jumping, he needs to dance. Oliver “Ollie”: Claiming that the most interesting thing about himself is his eyebrows, Ollie is the other Kiwi at the drop zone (born in the North Island so that’s OK). Ollie is a man of many talents, some of which involve multitasking the packing of parachutes, driving crazy skydivers to the airport and editing skydiving footage. He has the ultimate bachelor pad right next to the drop zone and enjoys the coastal life as a change from a bustling Melbourne hospitality scene. Ollie has completed over 100 jumps and is absolutely hooked on the fun of freefall and flying.
Tamahra “Tam”: Marketing Manager Tamahra, with around 800 jumps to her name, has been in the sport for over 13 years, making her one of the most slack skydivers in Australian history. Tam has been a part of Skydive the Beach since the company was just a figment of Anthony’s imagination. Starting out as Manager and undergoing a partial retirement to study jewellery design, Tam now looks after the marketing side of the business while she makes pretty shiny things on the side. Generally the responsible one in the team, there has been enough behavioural discrepancies to earn the respect of her fellow workmates.
Lori "Lozza": Lovely Lori started jumping with Skydive the Beach when she was just a sweet 16 year old! Since then she has been well and truly corrupted by her immoral workmates. Lori now has 250 jumps to her name, can pack tandems, and is a manifest extraordinaire. Currently on hiatus, Lozza has a mean competitive streak, she also knows how to drive fast (her record speaks for itself), and her favourite party trick is doing a “red eye”. This unique take on a tequila slammer hurts, but it is very funny to watch! Bri: With one jump to her name (not bad considering she only started with us in Feb 2008), the lovely Bri is only 18 years young. Along with Bonnie, Bri is doing her Certificate in Business Administration, which means she is working hard! She excels at giving customers top service, sweet talking the instructors, and flashing her winning smile. Bri will also do anything to make someone laugh! Apparently she has never been afraid to act the fool, although her shyness in front of the camera and her reluctance in admitting to her hip hop dance skills hint that she has limits! Bonnie: At 19 and on the path to business success, Bonnie is doing her Certificate in Business Administration. When she grows up she wants to be a Tour Manager, however she tells me this changes weekly! She survived schoolies on the Gold Coast last year, and has survived two tandem skydives with us; she can survive anything. She likes swimming, and is saving madly for her first big overseas adventure approaching rapidly. Thailand and Europe look out!
Rob “Robbie”: Rob is one of our most experienced skydivers at Skydive the Beach. He has been jumping for 18 years and has upwards of 10,000 jumps. He’s represented Australia 6 times in international competitions, and says his greatest achievement is that he is “still alive”! Born in Lismore and grown in Lennox Head, this feisty carrot top likes dressing as a cow on the odd occasion (nothing to do with his upbringing apparently). Robbie holds an Instructor A licence and flies aeroplanes, hang-gliders, and parachutes at ultra-high speeds. Currently he’s on the National Canopy Piloting team.
Todd “Hermafrotodd”: We keep this young hermaphrodite out of site in the dubbing room where he can’t get into too much trouble. Todd just can’t seem to stay away from Skydive the Beach, he keeps leaving and coming back. We are not sure if it is the amazing pay, great surf out the front of the office, or harem of women he keeps at the North Gong Hotel….maybe it is the love and acceptance he finds amongst his fellow workmates. Aaron "Azza": One word for this gentleman, “respect”. Aaron is our Sydney transfer bus driver, not quite the long socks and red carpet variety, more the laid back/chilled type, with a definite fun streak. Aaron’s tendency to share the love, which creeps out of him after a few beverages, is one of his more endearing qualities. Driving to Sydney at 5am is a brutal but familiar hour for Aaron. If you are on his bus in the wee hours of the morning and dare to initiate conversation with him, make sure it involves music, art or something philosophical. A fact on this guy worth mentioning is his track record of missing domestic flights on company credit cards, but that is a whole other story. Billie "Bam Bam": Born and bred in Wollongong this groovy chick rocks the Kasbah. She has taken to one of the hardest jobs at the drop-zone – manifesting, like a fish to water. “Bam Bam” has outdone herself this year with her driving efforts. Cars, buses and bikes, she has damaged them all within a one month reign of terror. She makes up for this by being absolutely charming, lady-like and honest. Billie enjoys long walks along the beach…..actually that’s a lie, she doesn’t walk, but she might if she found Mr Right to stroll with her! She has resisted the instructors’ charms so far which makes us think she has high standards! Moonlighting at the iconic Headlands Hotel as a bar wench, Billie is a wanna-be pool shark and boxing amateur, so don’t cross this one at the snooker table! She has been bitten by the travel bug and her next trip is to South America, start preparing now amigos!
Kim: Not to be forgotten, Kim is the glue that holds all of our accounts together! Only seen a day a week in the office (ah, the joys of being a working mother), Kim decides who has been naughty, who has been nice, and who deserves their pay this week. We are actually pretty glad that we don’t see Kim too often, she has been known to regularly lead the office girls astray with her ‘Chardy Thursdays’, this results in a minimum amount of work being completed after the first bottle is opened. Lately she braved the skies for her first awesome jump and could be heard wondering why she left it so long. Adriana “Aids": Adriana is the drop-zone’s most lovable disease. Aids is a Wollongong native, which means she has the chops for the tough task of manifest chick, she also edits DVDs (clever girl). Adriana is just about to graduate with Bachelor of Commerce Degree (and at this point we would like to thank Wollongong University for supplying us with so many diligent employees….), however at only 21 years old has also been a florist for four and a half years. She’s a regular at local watering holes, and you’ll usually see her with a glass of merlot in her hand. She’s about to jet set overseas to reward herself after all many long years studying, so look out world!! She has 3 jumps under her belt and she plans to slowly notch up some more. Aids is prone to fall in love with customers, especially if they flash a smile and ride a motorbike. Jeremy "Red-eye": Hailing from Castle Rock Colerado, Red Eye is our American Import. When not jumping, he's often found base jumping in various locations. He's got 4000 skydives and counting to his record and you'll immediately know him by the wide smile, American drawl and two-thumbs-up gesture. Exclamations of "sww-eeet", "sick" and "cool" can be heard in almost every sentence Jeremy utters. Language translation is offerred on a case-by-case basis. The origin of his nick-name is apparently a state secret, on a "need to know" basis. James: Another recruit is the new resident, pretty & polite boy James. On completing his AFF course earlier this year, you'll find James scaring the seagulls by jumping off park benches with a tea towel over his head. Studying journalism at uni, we'll all be able to say we "knew him when..." After four years of flipping burgers at Macca’s, James’ first day on the job with us had him admitting “I love this job, I don’t mind taking out the garbage or washing cupboards”. He completely bypassed his probation period. The glamorous title given to James since starting work at the DZ is ‘Mr Bond a.k.a. 007’. Anneka: Yet to earn a nickname, Anneka is the Marketing Assistant in the office. You might catch her around the place on agent visits or in the back office giggling with Debb. Generally enthusiastic and happy, the key to her heart is chocolate (lots of it), a glass of red and a good book or DVD. These pastimes can keep her up way past bed-time and can affect the “enthusiastic and happy” label. Often found doing anything other then housework. Working up the courage to do her first skydive. Kiwi Dan: As his name suggests, Dan is NZ-born and bred but don’t hold it against him. With 2 and a half years and 2300 jumps to his credit, he’s completing his AFF training. When not enjoying the obvious thrill of being a tandem master, this charmer wanted it officially known that he is into girls (not sheep). He is a self confessed videographer and enjoys rough rides on buses. He’s the one with wide smile, cheeky jokes and infectious laugh. Jules: Jules was hooked at 18 with her first tandem and has 2500 jumps under her belt in her 12 year career. Currently in the National Canopy Formation Team, she will be representing Australia in September in the Netherlands. Multi –talented, Jules also performs in kids’ circus with juggling, uni-cycling and more. What a woman. Current female world record holder and champion in canopy formation we are both proud and fortunate to have her on the team and can’t wait to see what she’ll get up to next. Luke “Junior”: Our new pilot Luke is just 21 but has an admirable 7 years flying. He's always loved the idea of flying but not so much the jumping. We’ll soon change that! Previously running a private jet company, he’s learned to speak fluent Mandarin. Completing a Bachelor of Commerce in International Business at Wollongong Uni keeps him busy. Drinking and partying at the North ‘Gong (or anywhere alcohol is available) fills his nights, but to his regret, he’s very single. James“Jimmy-Jack”: After just one jump, James decided to give himself a job with the skydive crew. Jumping onboard, he is best described by the phrase "still waters run deep". He is always happy to help out, whether he is gearing you up before a jump or with general odd jobs around the place. So dubbed by his parents, Jimmy-Jack has a mixed bag of past-times: painting, bmx biking, rock-climbing, and is a graphic designer in his time off. His personal goal is to remain laid-back about life. He's now got seven jumps and is self-appointed VMO. Little Kev: Little Kev joins the team with 1400 jumps, a big smile and over 11 years of skydiving experience to his name. A former plumber by trade, it's a good thing he's now a skydiver as apparently he didn't know much about pipes. Like many of the tandem masters here, says Kev, he is into making up hero stories about jumping off as many tall things as he can, rock-climbing (to jump off at the top of course), ballroom dancing and marbles. We think he'll fit right in here. Big Kev: Kev is a family man who pays the bills with his adrenaline addiction. He has over 6500 jumps under his belt and has been in the sport an amazing 24 years so you are in experienced hands with this guy. His whole family skydive together - perhaps the motto "a family that plays together stays together" is truly apt in this case. Reports are surfacing about some night swimming in the harbour involving Big Kev, but it's unsubstantiated rumours at this stage.
